Other self-financed courses like MA in social works, master of finance and control (MFC), MSc in biotechnology, diploma in banking and insurance management (DBIM), masters in pharmacy, M Tech (computer science) and masters degree in electronics and information system (MEIS) will continue as usual as the university has received many applications, he added.

Vice-chancellor J K Mohapatra said the economic condition of poor students in southern Odisha is one of the reasons for self-financed courses finding very few takers. “The response in subjects like pharmacy and biotechnology is good because the course fee here is less than that in other private institutes in the state,” a senior professor added.

the PG council chairman said the response in various regular courses was satisfactory as almost all the seats have filled up this year. Barring subjects like home science and journalism and mass communication, seats in all general students have already filled up, he said. the university authorities will invite applications soon to fill up seats reserved for the SC and ST students, which are lying vacant in some departments, he added.
