Darby consolidates top spot

CYCLING: Paul Darby consolidated his position at the top of the scratch and handicap standings in Wyre Forest’s Midweek Time Trial Championship.

The latest round was held on a new hilly 15 miles course which included the climbs of Clows Top, the Abberleys and Hurtle Hill off the Dunley Road.

Darby strengthened his position with an excellent time of 38 minutes and 58 seconds.

Jason Dimmock was second with a time of 40.47 and Clive Heath finished third with 41.28.

overall winner was former club member Phil Blacker, now riding for sponsored trade team Jewson, who set a course record of 37 minutes.

in the latest round of circuit races at the Stourport Sports Club promoted by Beacon Roads CC John Clarke could not match the sprinting speed of the winner and had to settle for ninth place.
