Groveland, CA — the West Coast Towers company wants to put up the cell tower by the Pine Mountain Lake Airport. It will be for multiple phone carriers who want to rent space on the 108 foot tall tower.

The Tuolumne County Airport Land use Commission is holding a public hearing August 2nd at 6pm to discuss the tower.

Deputy Director of Community Resources Mike Laird says “The Commission will be determining the safety impact of a tower that tall and if it fits in with the policies of their overall plan.” he adds “It won’t be on airport property or in the traffic pattern for planes.”

The tower would be on a hill off of Highway 120 and Ferretti Road, just west of Tenaya Elementary School. It would be in a 50 foot by 50 foot fenced area. Laird says the Commission will vote on whether to approve the tower at a later date.
