Knowledge and communication is increasingly becoming digitized. with greater accessibility and affordability of the Internet, a lot of information can be easily shared in an open and public space, for very little cost. This has resulted in the digitizing of a lot of books that can be bought on the Internet or accessed freely without any copyright infringement. Books that used to take up a lot of physical space, as well as often cost a lot of money, can now be read on any computer and accessing them takes only a few clicks on the mouse.

A Portable Document Format (PDF) file allows one to carry documents in digital form and even copy them but the text in PDF files cannot be edited or overwritten. and therefore, it is perfect for digitizing texts that are to be retained in their original form because their authorship is primary to them. For example, if it is the text of a Shakespearean play or a Charles Dickens novel, or even an official document like a life insurance policy, then it is best to get a PDF version of it, because the original text should not be tampered with.

Getting PDF files are easy. and the only software required to read a PDF file is the Adobe system that supports it, for which PDFs were purported to begin with. to get PDFs, simply go to any search engine online of the many that are available. because there are alternative text formats available like.txt, you have to mention ‘pdf’ after you have entered the name of the text you are looking for in the search engine. It is an even better searching method to put your keywords within double quotes so that you get more specific results.

In your search results you are most likely to find two kinds of search results for the text that you are searching for in the PDF form – one where you have to buy the e-book, and another where you can read the book without having to buy it. unlike some libraries where you can access the text but not download it, a PDF by its very formatting can be downloaded. However, if you do not save it to your hard drive or some other form of saving device like a pen drive or a DVD, you will lose the document as soon as you close it.

After you come across the PDF you were looking for and downloaded it, do remember to save a copy. also, you might find PDFs of similar texts displayed as similar search results on your webpage. This is done because you have expressed interest in a similar subject matter, so links to PDFs that contain the work of the same author, or of similar subjects and the like will also be made available.

E-books have gained immense popularity and account for the large sale of e-book hand readers. some of these hand readers even offer an almost paper-like viewing to lessen the strain on the eyes, and they are built to store hundreds and thousands of PDFs.
