Computers are part of our future, and those who earn a Computer Information Systems degree will be able to succeed where others might not. Why? It’s simple. The person with the most knowledge of computers and information systems will get the job and the job will likely pay well. For now, they may be considered “nerds”, but in reality, these men and women are experts who might just be your boss one day. It’s not hard to see how much computers influence us on a daily basis. from business to personal needs, computers and the information that they analyze and distribute are vital elements in making day-to-day functioning possible. The demand for trained computer engineers is expected to increase by as much as 32 percent over the next decade according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That’s a pretty good number compared to some other sectors. but you really have to have a love of computers and solving problems if you are to succeed in this field, since most of your day will be spent doing just that – analyzing data, optimizing a company’s computers and helping them to develop better business plans with technology in mind. As these men and women move up the ladder and possibly become Chief Information Officers, they may also implement budgets and plans to implement new technology as well as manage those on their team. It’s not all fun and games with computers though. most CIO’s and their teams sometimes log long hours over the weekend or past 5 pm in order to meet deadlines or solve unexpected IT issues that could impact a business. yet, if you’re the type of person that likes to solve problems and see solutions work, then this could be the field for you. Earning your Computer Information Systems degree is only the first step in this career path. Individuals may want to look at certification in a specialization, which will increase their chances of getting hired. It may not always be required, but it’s a valuable asset to have. A good understanding of other aspects of business, such as marketing or human resources, can also make an individual more valuable. if you want to have a successful and satisfying career, then consider a computer information systems degree. with career prospects looking bright, this could be a great step in the right direction. As I said before, a computer information systems degree is only one step; look into specializing in a certain area and capitalizing on that experience.
